This hymn is telling the Nile that it creates the food they eat, like grain and barley. That makes sure that the temples survive, the gods live in the temples. So that is saying that the Nile helps the gods survive. Lastly, if the Nile stops doing work (e.g. the annual flood), then everything (everything in existence) will suffer.
